Today is a special day for me. It marks my first year performing stand up comedy! This past year has been so fun and exciting. The Charleston comedy community was so warm and welcoming to me. It is a great place to start honing your comedy craft. The first place I performed was Joe Pasta (now called Compass) in Downtown Charleston. This is one of the most prominent comedy open mics in the city. It is hosted by Stan Shelby (pictured above). He was always super supportive of my comedy and encouraged me to keep going. It was always a good time and even better show at Joe pasta. I recommend anyone new to Charleston and interested in comedy to attend this open mic. It is great way to meet everyone in the scene. I now live in Atlanta. I feel like Atlanta has one of the best scenes in the United States right now and I love learning about the venues here. I will continue to post about the open mics here as I perform at each. This is a little embarrassing. But here is a short video of my first performance at Joe Pasta (now Compass):
